Nigel Plaskitt, puppet coach on Cameron Mackintosh’s West End version of Avenue Q is running workshops teaching you how to properly use and get the best out of the puppets in performing the show.   The workshop will be for one day and will cover all the basic training given to the West End actors, developed over the last fourteen years and through his experience training and casting for Sesame Street International and The Jim Henson Company.

This is a very intensive workshop specific to Avenue Q.

....Meeting both the stars of the show, the puppets, and the men behind them for the first time could have been intimidating, considering Nigel and Paul's wealth of experience and expertise, but we received a very warm welcome and it was thrilling to see the puppets we would be using for the show.    We then had a day filled with useful exercises, practice with the puppets, advice on how to look after the puppets, tonnes of tips about puppeteering...  I would recommend that, if you are a theatre company that is considering staging Avenue Q, do this workshop, the advice you receive is invaluable and you won't regret it.

The workshop will need a minimum number of participants.  Please plan the workshop to take place at the beginning of your rehearsal period or before.   You will need all the time you have to perfect the technique.

If you have a small company you can play Avenue Q with the original cast configuration where each puppeteer plays two or three parts.  However if you have a bigger company you can spread the roles out with different performers.  You can learn more about these options at the workshop.

This is also an opportunity to grab some publicity photos of your cast with the show puppets.
